Initially an inventor working on improving the cathode ray tube, Allen B. DuMont begins manufacturing televisions and offers the first all electronic TV set for retail sale in the US. His 14-inch model is reportedly superior to RCA’s 12-inch. DuMont also forms a television network, partially funded by Paramount Pictures, to compete with RCA
