Colour TV in the USA

June 27, 1929

H.E. Ives and his colleagues at Bell Laboratories in New York produce and demonstrate colour TV mechanically. The first images are a bouquet of roses and an American flag. The system uses a single spiral, through the holes of which light from three coloured sources is passed. A mechanical system is used to transmit 50-line colour television images from New York to Washington.
