August 26 – First major league baseball game telecast, a double-header between the Cincinnati Reds and the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field, Brooklyn. Dodgers win 6-1. October 22, – An NFL game was televised for the first time when NBC broadcast the Brooklyn Dodgers – Philadelphia Eagles game from Ebbets Field. Dodgers win the first game 23-14, but end up splitting the double header.
